Ahmad Mu’az Mohd Nawawi
Mu’az started his career in legal practice after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and completed his Diploma in Shariah Legal Practice (DSLP) from University Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Later in October 2012 he was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya and is a member of the Malaysia Association of Syarie Lawyer (PGSM) since 2011. He also has a certificate in Compliance and Governance under Basel Institute on Governance.
Currently he is a member of Malaysian Institute of Corporate Governors (MICG), a member of Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and a Central Committee Member (Head of Regional Network) of Muslim Business Network Association of Malaysia (MUBIN). Recently, he also co-founded Malaysian Corporate Secretarial Association for Kuala Lumpur & Selangor (MyCoSec) being mandated as a central committee member and sits in the Board of Advisor for Malaysia Young Shariah Scholars Association (MySSA).
His first legal exposure was in the Shariah Courts handling shariah litigation cases from family dispute resolution, Faraid matters to the Islamic Wealth Management portfolio on Hibah Amanah. Having experience in the corporate sector since 2007 and eloquent in the Arabic language, he also was involved in numerous in-house business advisory and corporate-commercial exercises for a number of foreign investors from the middle east locally and abroad. He assisted the incorporation of a hand full of Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) in Malaysia and was appointed as a non-executive council member and legal advisor to some of these establishments advising on its compliance and governance which included state owned foundations locally and or government link charitable entities abroad. His expertise was also sought after for the establishment of a number of Waqf foundations in Labuan and he made his mark in one of the first public Islamic Foundation incorporated under the law of this unique mid-shore territory.
He was also involved in the 2017 Risk Assessment on AMLCFT for Non Profit Organizations conducted by FIED, Bank Negara Malaysia where he had given his expert opinion on the matter. Mu’az also leads Mu’az Aiman Halem Auzan & Associates (MAHA Lawyers) as the Managing Partner.
