Wijdan Al-Shahry
Wijdan Al Shahry, was awarded a scholarship by the Omani government to pursue a Bachelors of Economics (Hons) degree from HELP University, Malaysia. She is also a holder of an MSc in Economics and International Relations from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom. After her Masters degree she started developing more interest in the field of Behavioural Economics and attended many relevant workshops and training programs. She is currently doing a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health at King’s College London, United Kingdom to complement her existing knowledge of economics and bridge the gap of her understanding of behaviours as well as economic decision-making of individuals and institutions.
Wijdan works as a Behavioural Economics Researcher at the Ministry of Economy in Oman. Since then she has gained many skills in research, experimentation (Randomised Controlled Trials, A/B Testing..) and analytics using different statistical and econometric methods. She also had her first published article in Arabic at the Harvard Business Review.
She is one of the founding members of Youth Action Hub, Oman that is supported by UNCTAD. She is fluent in both Arabic and English beside an intermediate level of French and enjoys good communication skills. Wijdan is always keen on expanding her knowledge and learning, so she seeks opportunities to discover areas like digital economy, knowledge economy and more.
